Katie Cahill and Nneka Walson Step into New Roles at CECS

The College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies (CECS) is pleased to share two exciting personnel updates that mark the next phase of growth and collaboration within the college.

Dr. Katie Cahill is stepping into her next big role in CECS as the Assistant Dean of Partnerships and Economic Development. Cahill has been instrumental in shaping several of CECS’s key initiatives, including online degree development, workforce training, and strategic recruitment. Her deep expertise in public policy, economic development, and academic processes, combined with her ability to bring innovative ideas to life, will continue to propel our college forward as we strengthen partnerships between higher education, industry, and government.

Cahill previously served as the Assistant Dean of Student Success and Workforce Pathways for CECS. In her new role, Cahill will hold a joint appointment with the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development (ORIED), reporting to Marc Gibson, and will collaborate closely with CECS Strategic Connections Advisor Alan Hill on government and board initiatives.

Nneka Walson joins CECS as Director of Student Success and Engagement. Walson joins CECS from the Center for Student Engagement, where she has built an impressive record of fostering community, belonging, and student achievement. Her experience, creativity, and strategic approach to engagement will be invaluable as we continue to design student-centered programs that reflect CECS’s innovative spirit.

“We are excited to have Katie and Nneka step into these important roles,” said Ozlem Kilic, Vice Provost and Founding Dean of CECS. “Their experience and leadership will be key as we continue to grow partnerships, expand opportunities, and support the success of our students and programs.”
