Certificate in Sustainable Development
The Sustainable Development Certificate is intended for students interested in incorporating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) into their current practice and skills. This certificate increases sustainable development competency both internationally and domestically and to prepare students for a career in private industry, the government, or a non-governmental organization.
Certificate Overview
Gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles and concepts of sustainable development, including the three pillars of sustainability: economic, social, and environmental.
This certificate is intended to be an accelerated program and students can complete the certificate within an academic year. The certificate is available to individuals who are 1) pursuing any academic programs at the University of Tennessee or 2) a current student at an outside accredited 4-year post-secondary institution or 3) post-baccalaureate and enrolled solely in the certificate program.

This course will provide a transdisciplinary introduction and assessment of global SDGs. The course will present each of the SDGs, look at global progress towards each SDG, and provide opportunities for students to explore the synergies of the SDGs.
