Adjunct Faculty | R&D Grid Communications and Security Research Group, ORNL

Ali Boyaci is an R&D Staff Member in the Grid Communications and Security Research Group at the Electrification and Energy Infrastructures Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Knoxville, TN, USA, which he joined in 2024. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His current research interests include data analytics for power-grid anomaly detection, machine learning, and cybersecurity.

He received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from Yildiz Technical University. He worked for eight years as a faculty member at Istanbul Commerce University, where he founded and led multiple research labs and served as Director of Information Technologies for the university from 2019 to 2021. Earlier, he was a postdoctoral researcher with the Wireless Research Group at Texas A&M University at Qatar, where he led the design and prototyping of an underwater visible-light communication system. He is an IEEE Senior Member.
