Babak Shoraka, PhD, is a cybersecurity educator and author with nearly three decades of experience in industry and academia. His professional background includes information security, software development, and systems engineering, with experience in global banking and financial markets technology. His career includes positions with Deutsche Bank and Barclays in Tokyo, London, and New York, along with work at Siemens, Wiley, and technology startups.
Professor Shoraka has more than 15 years of teaching experience in cybersecurity and information technology at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including faculty appointments at Northeastern University, the University of Maryland Global Campus, and Colorado State University Global. His current academic interests include applied cybersecurity education, AI-enabled learning and assessment, and the cybersecurity of implantable medical devices.
He holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University, an M.Sc. in Software and Systems Security from the University of Oxford, an M.S. and a B.A. in Computer Science, and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Florida.
