Brad Chadwell

Senior Director, Research & Development – Energy & Technology, Electric Power Engineers, LLC

Brad is a transformational energy innovation leader with over 20 years of experience developing and executing strategic research and development initiatives across the utility, national laboratory, and technology commercialization sectors. He advances grid technologies from concept to deployment, strengthening resilience, and creating new value for the energy ecosystem.

In his current role, Brad leads EPE’s innovation roadmap and a portfolio of initiatives developing cutting-edge services and solutions to design and implement the grid of the future. Prior to joining EPE, Brad served as Director of Enterprise Research and Innovation for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where he defined and launched the utility’s enterprise-wide innovation strategy to address complex challenges across its system. His previous leadership tenure at American Electric Power (AEP) included directing process transformation and managing technology innovation. His earlier career at Battelle Memorial Institute involved leading multi-million-dollar energy R&D programs, resulting in 16 U.S. patents, an R&D 100 Award, and the successful spin-out of new ventures.

Brad holds an MBA from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
