Professor Luther is a scholar of global communication whose teaching and research focus on digital media, propaganda and disinformation, digital activism, audience analytics, and media diversity, equity, and inclusion. She earned her PhD from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and Executive MBA from the University of Tennessee, and has published extensively in leading communication journals and authored four books, including Diversity in U.S. Mass Media. As principal investigator, she leads a U.S. Office of Naval Research Minerva grant examining media-propagated propaganda and disinformation in former Soviet Union countries, and she has received two Fulbright awards, including the 2023 Fulbright-Masaryk Distinguished Scholar Award.
