Luís Finotti received his BS and MS from the University of São Paulo . He received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
He was a post-doc at the University of California Santa Barbara and a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University before joining the University of Tennessee in 2006.
His main areas of interest are Algebraic Number Theory and Arithmetic Geometry , in particular liftings of curves (from characteristic p to characteristic 0), computational aspects and applications in cryptography and quantum computing.
