Nahom Kidane

Teaching Assistant Professor

Nahom Kidane, Ph.D. is a computational scientist whose work integrates data science, medical imaging, and biomedical engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Modeling and Simulation Engineering from Old Dominion University and currently serves as a Teaching Assistant Professor in the College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to joining UT, he worked as a Research Scientist in the medical imaging industry, where he contributed to the development of AI-powered tools for surgical planning and diagnostic support. His current research focuses on 3D anatomical modeling, clinical decision support, and applied machine learning. Actively publishing in the fields of medical imaging and AI, Dr. Kidane is passionate about translational innovation and student mentorship. He teaches courses in data science and artificial intelligence, aiming to equip students with the practical skills and adaptive mindset needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape.
