Steve McFall is an Adjunct Lecturer teaching courses in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama and continued post-baccalaureate work concentrating in computer architecture, neural networks, and genetic algorithms while teaching for the University of Alabama Department of Mathematics. He spent a career as a Special Agent and Forensic Examiner in the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was the founder of the digital forensics program in the FBI Laboratory. Steve most recently worked as the Lead Engineer for a Knoxville based startup company that concentrated on Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) for Department of Defense and critical infrastructure projects.
His research interests include the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence to solve data analysis problems in digital forensics, cybersecurity, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) including counter-drone work. He is also an avid musician who works as a live audio engineer for various companies in the Knoxville area.
