Dr. Robin Hardin serves as a Faculty Fellow for the College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies (CECS), overseeing the development of the Sport Analytics Certificate. As a faculty member in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, Hardin brings deep expertise in intercollegiate sport, including governance, consumer behavior, sport communication, and holistic care for collegiate student-athletes.
Hardin began working with CECS on the development of the Sport Analytics certificate in Spring 2024. Since then, he has been instrumental in facilitating the Sport Analytics committee’s work to ideate, design innovative curricula, and enhance existing programs that open pathways for learners from all disciplines and backgrounds.
In his home department, Kinesiology, Recreation & Sport Studies, Hardin teaches courses on sports management, sports and media, sport and religion, and event management. Hardin is also a member of the official statistics staff for Tennessee football and men’s and women’s basketball. He retired in 2008 after 20 years of service in the Tennessee National Guard and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm (1991–1992).
“It has been an amazing experience being a Faculty Fellow with CECS,” he says. “I have been able to collaborate with faculty across disciplines to develop the Sport Analytics Certificate Program and Sport Analytics Minor. These programs are creating pathways for students to pursue their career goals of working in the sport industry and providing them with the skillset they need in the competitive marketplace. The strongest academic programs emerge when faculty collaborate, and this has been the catalyst for the development of these programs.”
